Standards for Certificate Programs

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

RSVP Now!

The CNG is excited to support ANSI, NOCA and LERN in their efforts to improve the quality of continuing education certificate programs. The June 18th CNG panel discussion will focus on what a "quality" certificate program might look like, what procedures and structures that such programs should adapt, and what measures will provide confidence to employers, business, and government that individuals are learning the content taught.

The program will be a panel discussion about shared interests and possible standards for certificate programs. The panelist include: Dr. Roy Swift, Program Director, Accreditation of Personnel Certification Programs, American National Standards Institute (ANSI); Jim Kendzel, Executive Director, NOCA; and Christian Smith, PhD, CPP, Director of Membership Services, Learning Resources Network (LERN). Each will consult with their crystal ball and project where they see certificate programs in the next 5, 10 and 20 years.

The panelist will explore possible solutions to what is of huge interest to a great many professionals. There are literally thousands of different types of organizations who all share an interest in the future direction of setting standards for certificate programs. No one organization is going to be able to meet all of the various needs of all of the stakeholders who participate in this arena.
