Steve Halsey

 

Steve HalseySteve’s political experience included serving as White House staff in the Reagan Administration and as a member of Presidential campaign and transition teams. He had in excess of 20 years experience as a government relations consultant, including work as a public advocate representing a wide variety of issues; professional certification, health care, labor, transportation and veterans’ affairs and work as a registered foreign agent for a NATO Ally.

Steve’s accomplishments in the area of professional certification were many and included;

  • Late 1991 Creation of The International Air Filtration Certifiers Association
  • 1993 Outstanding Achievement Award (for role as President and personal dedication)
  • 1995 1st Congressional Hearing on the issue of Professional Certification
  • 1995 Founder, The Coalition for Professional Certification
  • 1997 Co-Founder, Halsey, Rains & Associations, LLC
  • 1997-2007 Multiple Appearances before the US Congress as an expert witness on the issue of
    Professional Certification, as well as in the Federal Court System.
  • 1999 Public Law 106-50 (creation of the Professional Certification Advisory Board), signed by President Clinton.

  • June 2000 The first “Transition Assistance: The Role of Certification” Conference was held in Washington, DC to highlight the role professional certification plays in efforts to ensure swift employment and a smooth transition experience for our nation’s veterans.
  • May 2001 The 2nd Annual “Transition Assistance: The Role of Certification” Conference was held in Washington, DC.
  • December 2002 The 3rd Annual “Transition Assistance: The Role of Certification” Conference was held in Washington, DC.
  • 2001-2007 Multiple projects on behalf of transitioning veterans with the Departments of Labor, Veterans Affairs, Defense, and HHS/CMS, etc.
    Acted on behalf of ANSI and was instrumental in facilitating ANSI membership for several governmental agencies, e.g., the SBA, DOL and DVA.

This list only highlights some of the many accomplishments of Steve Halsey. The certification community mourns the loss of a true visionary – an able, passionate and energetic advocate.
